Katie is in Mozambique already!

Bom dia (Good day) ! I am creating this blog as a space where I will share updates about my time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique. I will hopefully be sharing updates, pictures, and whatever else I can think of here!

As I have been in Mozambique for four months, I have completed training and have spent a month waiting and prepping to go to site! This is not the norm, as generally once you swear in you immediately head to your site. But guess what? My cohort likes to do things a little differently. That story will be saved for a later time, as it is very much unusual and specific to my cohort, Moz 32.

Each cohort is a group of people who will all be in the same sector of Peace Corps, for me that means education. Mozambique has now taken over the last twenty or so years 32 cohorts of education and health volunteers who each do three months training followed by two years at a site they are assigned to where they will work with the local community on forms of development that the community identifies, not a foreign body. The volunteer is there to support the process and help in any way they know how or are able to.
